About Us
The Green Elephant is a mental health initiative that was established in 2020. Born out of personal passion, The Green Elephant works to reduce the stigma around mental health, and works in seeking out and supporting accessible pathways to services for all through information, advocacy, workshops and events.
The Green Elephant was founded out of personal experience and challenges of being on a journey with one’s mental health. From this, emerged a desire to improve accessibility to supports and information, and to normalize having, and creating spaces to have, conversations about mental health. Conversations for those on their own mental health journeys, those who support others and the population as a whole.
Our Mission
Working to reduce the stigma around mental health, and seeking and supporting accessible pathways to services for all.
Our Vision
An open and accepting society where mental health is out in the open, and caring for our mental health is the norm.
Our Values
Collaborate: We need the support of each other to grow and develop in society. Our belief is in creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with services, people and organisations that benefit all of us.
Accessible: Everyone should have access to services and supports for their mental health, regardless of background, situation or circumstances. We strive to support this.
Respect: Respect of where each individual person is, has been and wants to go, and a respect of the process, individuality, time and effort it may take
Empower: We strive to support and empower people in caring for their mental health and in seeking support and services if they need them, driven and directed by the individual themselves
